For anglers who release their trout the following fish weight calculator will help you determine approximately how much that fish weighed.

It will calculate the weight with just the length, but if you have the girth of the trout as well, you'll get a more accurate weight.

SPECIAL NOTE: If you accomplish a long-distance release, hooking the fish a good distance out there in the water and then "releasing" the fish soon thereafter, DO NOT USE this calculator!! In the interest of consistency, and to prevent some untrustworthy trout fishermen from stretching the truth, all trout hooked and released this way will weigh exactly the same -- five pounds!
