Kris was born into fly fishing. You could say it's in his blood.

His father, Dave, started Montana Troutfitters in 1978 so when Kris was old enough to walk. Able to walk, that also meant he had a fly rod in his hand. Growing up around a fly shop, you could say Kris was a little "spoiled." He fished with guides and his father, learning the tips and tricks of years of experience at an early age and rowing a boat before most learn to fish.

Kris' passion for fishing led him to work in the fly shop throughout high school and college, doing some guiding during the summers.

In January of 2006, Kris was offered a chance to lead Montana Troutfitters in a new direction as shop manager, and with his fathers blessing, he hasn't looked back, except to pick up 2 degrees in May of '06 from MSU in Finance and Economics.
