Fishing Report:
We are still actively fishing the Gallatin River. Things have of course slowed down but there is still great fishing to be found all along the river. The mild fall weather has been nice but is winding down fast. We should be into early winter conditions soon so take advantage of the mild weather while you can. The colder temperatures are making the fish slow down so you will have to start working for them, but again, the conditions have a lot to do with their behavior so the occasional baetis hatch may stir them into action. Nymphing is still the way to go and according to several of our guides, is still the sure method of producing good size, classic Gallatin River fish. We spent all last week tying our version of the San Juan worm, so make sure that you stop in and pick a couple of these up for your box. Try an egg (orange or clown) dropper if all else fails. Streamer fishing, of course is picking up and will only get better with the coming of the colder temperatures.
