Fishing Reports
We haven't really heard much for news off the Boulder either. If you've been over there give us a call. I drove over it a few days ago and it looked plenty fishable but that is all we have for news.
Reports haven't changed much, the river has dropped fast and hard and even the West Boulder wasn't as dirty the past few days - that being said don't expect it to hold out much longer, as soon as it warms even a little bit the West Fork will render the lower river nearly unfishable. Above that near the Natural Bridge and higher the river is in good shape and the nymphing has been fairly steady - tons of rainbows are in the river still and typically they stay there for a while after the spawn, so there's always a good shot at some big rainbows in the Boulder this time of year. As far as nymphing goes, the rubberlegged stonefly variety is usually the go to for a point fly in a two fly rig, dropping small mayfly nymphs off the back can be productive, not a bad time to try an egg or worm still either. Streamer fishing doesn't always come up as a first option on this river, but don't discount it - big fish reside in the Boulder and when streamer activity is good, it's excellent on this river. Dry fly fishing hit or miss, if clarity stays decent could be some caddis down low near the Yellowstone but that likely will be short lived as the West gets muddy.
