Where to go...
With
the Madison not in full effect and the bugs done on the Henry's Fork
and Rock Creek being nearly a 4 hour drive where should you be going?
The
Big Hole! My friends were over on Sunday and the fishing was
fantastic in the morning on big dries. They floated from Melrose
all the way to Notch Bottom and fish were up and looking at flies
all day.
Your
best bet is to get up early, or ahem.... take some time off
of work and camp at Divide or Melrose and get on the water early.
The best concentration of bugs right now is around the Browns to Glen
stretch.
Now
with cooler weather in the forecast along with rain, chances are
that you are going to want to call us and figure
out where the bugs are moving to, because they may not move much at all
with cool temps.
What to Use...
Fly
wise, the Cat Puke is going to be the ticket again this year, I have
seen a few new patterns, but nothing worth fishing over this bad boy.
It's a low floater but it does the ticket. Also the CFO Hummer Stone
worked quite well on the Big Hole, you probably want to stop in and get
your bugs before heading over, because you don't want to have to stop
on your way over!
